Solar Electrical Engineer

Overview

The Solar Electrical Engineer will design and generate construction documents for residential, commercial and utility-scale solar PV systems. The engineer will apply knowledge of structural energy requirements, local climates, solar technology, and thermodynamics. The engineer will serve as the main point of contact to our clients and vendors. This position will be based in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer residential, commercial and utility scale PV solar systems between 50kW and 10MW in size.
  • Develop construction documents using AutoCAD.
  • Site assessment and analysis both from on‐site data collection and network tools.
  • Contributing to or writing technical papers.
  • Site specific production analysis of PV arrays using models such as PVsyst
  • Complete utility interconnection applications and building permit applications.
  • Develop detailed equipment specifications.
  • Coordinate activities between clients, utilities, permit agencies, contractors, and other engineering firms.
  • Integrating energy storage systems into the solar PV system.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards.


Experience

  • BSEE required
  • 5+ years of experience designing residential, commercial and utility scale PV installations and systems.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with renewable power systems.
  • Mastery of the National Electrical Code
  • Hands on experience commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting solar PV systems.
  • OEPPE certification for installation of Solar Project
  • Professional Engineer
  • Expert level work experience with AutoCAD with an understanding of layer control, dimensioning and scaling, sheet sets, blocks, xrefs, line weights, plot files, and file transmission.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with managers, sales team, clients, and contractors
  • Driver’s license and means of transportation
  • Computer literate
