Project Details

The project's objective involved the development, planning, and execution of the most effective procedure to strengthen and rehabilitate the city walls originally constructed back in the 16th century. The successful results of this program will help National Park Services plan to restore the entire 2,600 linear feet of fortification walls for this important landmark in Puerto Rico. The specific work includes testing of existing wall material, pre-injection ground penetrating radar survey, development of a custom compatible grout mix design and a low pressure masonry injection grouting at two different wall sections. Additionally, work involved the development and execution of a quality control process that will assist the successful completion and help achieve restoring the composite behavior in the existing masonry wall assembly.
