Project Overview

MFS Consulting Engineers & Surveyor, DPC provided land surveying services for the Preliminary Engineering Phase of NJDOT’s Route 17 project (MP 19.58 to 21.65), including the bridge over E. Allendale Avenue (Structure No. 0217162) in Saddle River, Bergen County.

Project Details

The scope included establishing primary and secondary survey control in compliance with NJDOT Surveying Manual and Standards Articles 44 and 51, using GPS, traverse, and leveling methods tied to NJ State Plane Coordinate System (NAD83/NAVD88). Detailed Survey Control Reports were prepared and certified by a NJ Licensed Surveyor.

MFS performed a topographic survey and base line survey using high-resolution aerial imagery and photogrammetric methods, producing accurate profile and cross sections for highways, digital terrain models, and 1-foot contours. Mapping was completed in MicroStation per NJDOT CAD standards.

Conventional survey methods supplemented the aerial work, capturing detailed utility and surface features within the ROW and East Allendale Avenue ramps. We obtained inverts, pipe sizes, material type and pipe depths for all drainage and utility structures. ROW and parcel lines were re-established using record plans, deeds, tax maps, and field evidence. MFS prepared ROW Maps (ETM, GPPM, IPM) with parcel descriptions in accordance with NJ Map Filing Law for ROW Mapping.

This project reflects MFS’s expertise in NJDOT standards, right-of-way mapping, and advanced topographic and photogrammetric surveying.
