NJDOT TP 563 South Region Safety

Various Locations, New Jersey

Project Overview

MFS Engineers & Surveyors, DPC (MFS) supported the final design phase of NJDOT’s Horizontal Curve Safety Sign Program by providing mapping and ROW data across 222 mainline and 374 ramp curve locations. Base mapping was developed at a 1” =50’ scale using ortho-rectified aerial imagery and GIS-based data sources, with ROW and roadway baselines overlaid and verified against NJDOT documentation.

Project Details

MFS verified and adjusted ROW lines for up to 80 curve locations using parcel data and physical site features, demonstrating experience with the NJ Map Filing Law and NJDOT Surveying Manual Article 51. Although no field survey was conducted for this project, MFS applied its knowledge of topographic and base line surveying and right-of-way alignment through aerial and GIS-based methods to support highway design.

MFS prepared mapping that supported roadway geometry and signage layout. The team’s involvement in ROW identification and adjustment reflected strong familiarity with NJDOT Surveying Manual Article 44. MFS coordinated ROW research and contributed data applicable to the preparation of ROW maps (ETM, GPPM, IPM) with parcel-level accuracy, reinforcing their qualifications for future ROW mapping efforts requiring full parcel descriptions.
