NYC Parks & Rec – Sakura Park Staircase

NYC Parks & Rec – Sakura Park Staircase
  • Owner: NYC Parks & Rec
  • Completed: November 2022
  • Services: Geotechnical Engineering Structural Engineering

MFS Engineers & Surveyor provided geotechnical and structural engineering services for the NYC Parks Rotational Project Assignment of Landscape Architectural Design Services for the Reconstruction of the Staircase at Sakura Park. The MFS was retained by Mark K. Morrison Landscape Architecture PC (MKM) to provide design services to support the reconstruction of the staircase.

MFS’s geotechnical engineering team roles and responsibilities included a subsurface investigation, field oversight, and geotechnical laboratory testing. MFS coordinated with our trusted drilling agency to drill two (2) borings adjacent to the existing staircase at the northeast corner of Sakura Park to investigate general subsurface conditions at the project site.

In addition, MFS’s structural engineering team provided the design and construction details for the new reinforced concrete foundation to reconstruct the existing entry stairs located in the northeast corner of Sakura Park.
