40 locations in Staten Island and Brooklyn, New York

Project Overview

MFS Engineers & Surveyors provided land surveying services to support the NYCDDC Design-Build contract for the design and construction of raised crosswalks throughout all five boroughs of New York City. The project included 160 intersections, with MFS assigned approximately 40 locations primarily in Staten Island and Brooklyn.

Project Details

The survey department prepared survey control, base, and topographic plans in accordance with the NYCDDC General Requirements for Engineering Design and Related Services, Sections 4.2 and 4.2B. Field crews established survey control at each location, followed by the collection of detailed topographic data documenting existing site conditions. Above-ground features such as curbs, sidewalks, pavement markings, utilities, signage, and landscaping were recorded to ensure accurate mapping for design purposes.

MFS compiled base mapping for each assigned intersection and, once utility information was provided, prepared CADD utility plans integrating the data into the existing base mapping. This approach allowed for the efficient delivery of accurate survey products to meet the project’s ambitious 18-month design schedule.
