NYCDDC - DeGraw Firehouse Renovation

Project Overview

MFS Consulting Engineers & Surveyor, DPC provided professional site/civil engineering services in support of the NYCDDC – DeGraw Firehouse Renovation project located at 299 DeGraw Street, Brooklyn, NY. The project consisted of the renovation of the former firehouse of Engine Company 204 in Cobble Hill into a new permanent home for the non-profit cultural organization, Noel Pointer Foundation. The project included the complete interior and exterior renovation of the existing structure, which was originally constructed around 1853.

Project Details

MFS’ site/civil team is supporting the project throughout design development and providing final construction documents for NYCDOB approval for construction. MFS prepared the site plan package, which consisted of site data including key map, proposed use, zoning table, and other items in the plan requirements, a site demolition and removal plan that depicted the existing site conditions with the items/structures that need to be removed or to remain, a proposed site plan that depicted the improvements including the building footprint, pavement, landscaping and dimensioning of proposed site features to property lines and other site related elements, and a site utility plan that depicted water, sewer, gas, electric, IT, security and fire services from adjacent City and private owned utilities. A Builder’s Pavement Plan was prepared to reconstruct the fronting sidewalks with new grading to divert stormwater away from the building and for ADA accessibility. In addition, MFS prepared the NYCDEP Site Connection Proposal applications for NYCDEP approval to connect new stormwater and sanitary piping into the NYCDEP combined storm sewer.
