NYCDDC New Utrecht Library Renovation

Brooklyn, New York

Project Overview

MFS Engineers & Surveyors provided professional site-civil engineering services for the NYCDDC – New Utrecht Library project located at 1743 8th St., Brooklyn, New York.

The project consisted of the renovation of the New Utrecht Branch Library. The project included the complete interior and exterior renovation of the existing structure and its site, which was originally constructed in 1953. The existing building is an approximately 7,480 square foot, two-story structure with a cellar, and a concrete driveway. The proposed building exterior and interior renovation included envelope upgrade, interior improvements, building system upgrades, and site improvements.

MFS’s site/civil team prepared a design development plan package, which identified the site layout including site improvements including sidewalk, curb, ADA ramp, new utilities, site grading and drainage, site pavement, site driveway, and site perimeter fencing.

MFS finalized and prepared the Final Construction Document submission for bidding and procurement purposes. The construction documentation included final signed and sealed construction drawings and final technical specifications.

MFS provided technical support during bid and award phase and provided any information request during contractor procurement phase. Throughout construction, MFS provided construction administration support: attend meetings, review submittals and shop drawings, respond to information requests, and closeout.
