MFS structural team conducted a full-day site visit to visually observe the structural conditions at both the Student Union Building and Services Center Building. Prior to the visit, the team reviewed pertinent documents, including historical drawings and reports.
MFS provided structural design support by reviewing available reports, as-built drawings, and plans. The structural design scope included:
- Analysis of existing concrete equipment pads and mechanical room floor framing.
- Reinforcement of floor framing for new mechanical equipment.
- Design of new reinforced concrete equipment pads.
- Analysis and reinforcement of existing structural walls and penetration openings.
- Design of support brackets and hangers for new equipment and utilities.
- Analysis of existing roof dunnage (Service Center Building) to support new condensing units and necessary modifications.
MFS finalized the structural design and delivered the necessary construction and bid documents, including specifications and calculations signed by a New York licensed Professional Engineer. The team attended teleconferences with the design team to review DASNY’s comments and provided coordination support.
