Project Details

MFS performed the mark-out of utilities within the designated area using a suite of advanced locating instruments that employed various frequencies and methods, including induction and direct connection. These tools allowed for both passive and active signal detection. Utilities were designated on-site by marking their approximate centerlines with paint and flags according to APWA color guidelines. Where necessary, field technicians installed flags to further distinguish utility paths.

Field sketches were developed by SUE technicians to visually capture the location, orientation, and characteristics of detected utilities. These sketches were color-coded by utility type and included annotations such as size and material when known. This field data was then used by MFS to conduct a precise survey of the mark-outs.

MFS and its Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) team made efforts to access utility connection points such as manholes, hand holes, and cleanouts. While confined space entry was not performed, the team reviewed all accessible infrastructure features. The scope did not include locating underground storage tanks or conducting full-coverage ground-penetrating radar (GPR) sweeps. GPR was employed selectively where it was deemed beneficial to support electromagnetic locating.
