Project Overview

MFS Consulting Engineers & Surveyor, DPC (MFS) provided structural engineering services in support of the Total Design and Construction Support Services (CSS) for the Riverside Park project in Manhattan, NY. The work covered the area from West 82nd Street to West 94th Street and West 98th Street to West 124th Street, spanning over the Amtrak Empire Line.

Project Details

MFS’s team conducted in-depth field inspections, provided oversight during concrete coring of the tunnel deck, performed structural evaluations, and developed load ratings for the tunnel structures within the project limits. These efforts were instrumental in informing the rehabilitation strategies and ensuring the long-term integrity of the infrastructure.

MFS reviewed original structural drawings and participated in project coordination meetings. The structural team conducted comprehensive field inspections documenting the existing conditions. Concrete structures were further analyzed through a targeted coring program to assess material conditions and validate design assumptions.

MFS prepared the Preliminary Design Plans, which included developing structural rehabilitation drawings and plans for construction staging and sequencing. The firm collaborated with project stakeholders to incorporate recommendations from related emergency response assessments, ensuring the design met both structural and operational safety standards.
