PSE&G Vauxhall Road Culvert Crossing

Union, New Jersey

Project Overview

MFS Consulting Engineers & Surveyor, DPC (MFS) provided structural engineering services in support of Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G) for the Vauxhall Road Culvert Crossing Design Project.

Union, New Jersey

Project Details

The project consisted of constructing a 13/26 kV electrical conduit crossing a culvert along Vauxhall Road in Union, New Jersey. The crossing was completed by attaching it to the existing culvert top slab, as prior plans to jack and bore under the culvert were unsuccessful. The duct bank consisted of 12 – 5-inch PVC conduits.

MFS’s structural team provided the design and construction documents for the proposed 18-ft long electrical conduit crossing on the Vauxhall Road Culvert. The crossing design included the design of all components related to the conduit hanger supports and attachment to the culvert top slab. MFS provided a typical underground duct bank detail. Additionally, MFS utilized the existing culvert structural drawings and analyzed the bridge top slab to support the weight of the electrical conduit crossing.

MFS’s structural team produced the final construction documents including New Jersey PE signed and sealed construction drawings and supporting calculations for construction. The construction drawings included existing and proposed framing plans, sections, and hanger connection details of the conduit crossing hanger system.
