Project Details

MFS’s survey team began the project by attending an initial kickoff meeting and coordinated field access with airport authorities, ensuring that the team completed required safety and access training. MFS relied on primary control points provided by the client and established a precise horizontal and vertical control network using GNSS RTK observations and conventional traversing methods. These control points were tied to the Puerto Rico State Plane Coordinate System (NAD83) and vertical datum NAVD88.

MFS’s survey team conducted a control survey by setting secondary control points at both ends of the site. These points anchored a traverse baseline with benchmarks established at 50- to 100-foot intervals. Horizontal and vertical accuracy met or exceeded Second-Order, Class II standards, and a local project ground datum was calculated for mapping.

Digital leveling monitoring was performed along the Taxiway Hotel path to measure potential pavement settlement. The team visited the site every two weeks for three months, working within a strict one-hour window per visit due to operational constraints. Elevation data was captured at consistent cross-sections and marked with nails and spray paint for quality control.
