Project Details

MFS performed a boundary survey and prepared topographic mapping utilizing a combination of existing 2019 LiDAR data, nearmap imagery, and field-surveyed data. The survey extended approximately 200 feet southwest and northeast from the Winchester and Western Railroad and 200 feet from the northwest and southeast railroad bridge abutments over the Manumuskin River, as shown in the included Google image file outlined in blue. The survey also included locating wetland flags, State Open Water (SOW) flags, and soil sampling flags. Mapping was prepared at a scale of 1” =50’ or less with 2’ contours.

MFS’s survey team used GNSS RTN and conventional surveying to establish “As Needed” survey control, tied to NAD 83 New Jersey State Plane horizontal datum and NAVD 88 vertical datum.

Topographic mapping was created using field-surveyed data, 2019 LiDAR data from NJGIN’s QL2 South NJ dataset, and nearmap imagery dated March 5, 2023. The field survey located all planimetric features within a rectangle covering a minimum of 200 feet upstream, downstream, and on each side of the railroad tracks. A Digital Terrain Model (DTM) was created from these features combined with the LiDAR data. Two-foot contours were generated as 3D polylines and labeled for elevation. Mapping was output at 1” =50’ in AutoCAD Civil 3D (.dwg and .dxf formats) according to NJDEP specifications.

MFS’s team utilized online research, Cumberland County Clerk records, and requests to Winchester and Western Railroad and New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for record documents and mapping for Block 700 Lot 1 and adjoining parcels. A composite plot of the subject property and adjoining parcels was prepared for field personnel to locate recorded monumentation or other physical evidence. Recovered field evidence was compared to record information to re-establish the record parcel lines. Recovered boundary markers were flagged, with a total of eight points set along the property line: four per sideline and two points on each side of the Manumuskin River bridge within the mapping limits.
